CUHK United Campus Student Hostel shortlisted in Green Building Award 2021
We are pleased to announce that CUHK United Campus 250-Place Student Hostel in Hong Kong, China is shortlisted in Green Building Award 2021, for New Buildings Category – Projects Under Construction and/or Design – Residential!
LWK + PARTNERS is the Lead Consultant, Authorised Person, Project Architect and Landscape Designer of the project, working closely with all project and design teams for a great collaborative achievement. Envisioned to connect human, nature and the built environment, the new hostel has set its building height below the adjacent academic buildings, with horizontal stripes on the façade and wide landscape corridors. The architecture is constructed above an existing carpark with well-planned slope greening, minimising the impact to the surrounding environment. Use of prefabricated façade and other green materials, including passive sun shading fins, integrated glass units, solar hot water system and bamboo furniture, reduce overall carbon footprint and construction waste. Communal spaces such as multipurpose hall, gym, green leisure space and reading room encourage students to social and relax, facilitating their physical health and mental wellbeing.
Green Building Award is co-organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Professional Green Building Council with an aim to honour the most outstanding and accomplished building-related projects and organisations in sustainability and green architecture.
