We are honoured to be featured in the SPRING 2025 edition of the RIBA Journal, the official publication of the Royal Institute of British Architects and a global reference for architectural thought leadership, innovation, and critical discourse.
In this feature, spanning pages 26–27, our Global Design Principal Kourosh Salehi joins a select group of regional leaders in reflecting on the evolving role of architecture across the Middle East—where tradition and transformation converge.
Kourosh’s contribution underscores a guiding principle at LWK + PARTNERS: that meaningful architecture emerges from deep contextual understanding. He articulates how today’s built environment must navigate complex realities—from climate adaptation and urban resilience to cultural specificity and identity. “In fast-evolving urban territories like the GCC, architects must offer more than spectacle. Our role is to root innovation in purpose—to design places that reflect who we are and where we’re going,” he shares.
The article explores how our firm is advancing a placemaking agenda that integrates passive sustainability strategies, local materiality, and human-scaled experiences—ensuring our designs are not only visually compelling but also socially and environmentally responsive.
Kourosh also reflects on the imperative to reframe luxury and progress through a localised lens, advocating for architecture that is adaptive, inclusive, and reflective of the region’s rich heritage and ambitious future.
At LWK + PARTNERS, we see architecture as a collective responsibility—to design cities of meaning, to honour place and memory, and to embrace innovation as a tool for social progress and planetary well-being.
We are grateful to the RIBA Journal for spotlighting these perspectives and proud to contribute to a global dialogue on the future of design.
