Located next to the Wong Chuk Hang MTR Station, the Hub was refurbished from the former 35 year-old industrial building, Cavendish Centre, to realise its true potential value in view of the latest changes in the surrounding context. As the Architect and Interior Designer for the project, LWK project teams have demonstrated their transformative power. In shedding the buildings’ industrial image and consequently reinstalling a successful corporate office image, the refurbishment helped the building to transcend the invisible yet very present barrier between two distinct architecture types without compromising its original aesthetics. The original stainless steel tubes going over the façade has been incorporated as part of the design to give it an even stronger identity. To signify the conversion, designers splattered green colour on the building to give it a stronger corporate identity. To make that green really pop, dark grey was chosen as a contrasting scheme to ensure highest visual impact. A strong static image was created by the newly added vertical fins. The interiors used a large amount of white marble and brass to create an upscale office image. The reflective colour and material also help brighten up the interior space. The result is a bright open office space that can accommodate various kinds of tenants.
