Ivan Fu officiates Hong Kong Green Building Week opening ceremony

Ivan Fu, LWK + PARTNERS Director and Chairperson of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Committee on Environment, joined HKSAR Secretary for the Environment Kam-sing Wong and Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) Chairman Hau-wai Cheung as officiating guests at the Hong Kong Green Building Week 2020 opening ceremony on Saturday 5 December 2020.

The Hong Kong Green Building Week, co-organised by CIC and the HKGBC, takes place during 5-11 December this year. LWK + PARTNERS being one of the supporting organisations, this annual happening aims to bring together the industry, government and public through a host of interactive activities to fight for a zero-carbon future. The theme this year is ‘Green Buildings TEAM UP for a Zero-carbon Future’.

At the ceremony, Ivan introduced the CIC-initiated Carbon Assessment Tool (CAT), Hong Kong’s common platform for evaluating the carbon performance of buildings and infrastructure from raw material extraction to the end of construction, reinforcing industry players must understand their own impact in quantifiable terms to improve the eco-friendliness of their workflow.

He also emphasised the roles of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) in lifting quality and efficiency while reducing wastage during construction for a more sustainable urban future.
