Public recreation design wins ICONIC AWARDS 2021
Our design for the civic waterfront project Foshan Xingang New Harbor Park, Foshan, China has won the ICONIC AWARDS 2021 in the Innovative Architecture – Concept category, a recognised seal of quality given by the globally acclaimed German Design Council. LWK + PARTNERS Senior Associate Yu Chen and Architect Debuyst Nicolas attended the presentation ceremony to receive the award in Shanghai on 3 December.
The project consists of a new interpretation of a viewing deck for the Foshan Xingang Harbor Park. The design retains the memory of the city’s industrial context by using the cranes found on site. By reimagining the use and texture of glass as a material, the project creates more than just a viewing deck out of the industrial site but a vibrant social destination where people can discover something new on every visit.
Organised by German Design Council, the annual ICONIC AWARDS is an important, widely respected platform promoting interdisciplinary dialogue between architecture, interior design, engineering, planning and manufacturing.
