West Huashan Unipark is designed to be a poetic urban retreat. Inspired by the silhouette of mountain ranges from the 13th century Yuan Dynasty Chinese painting titled Autumn Colours on the Que and Hua Mountains, the project features interlocking massing and bronze concave rooflines, extending the beauty of nearby landforms to offer a fully immersive retail environment. An intermingling of outdoor and indoor spaces is strategically deployed to offer an exploratory customer journey that encourages freestyle, multidirectional circulation. Together with a series of major attractions themed ‘forest’, ‘blossom’, ‘spring’ and ‘cloud’, the project reinvents the beauty of the painting in a modern site.
The design team took great use of the elongated site to build a retail street. The project is set to be a gateway to Huashan and a social hub for the community.
