German Design Award 2021 and Iconic Conference

Green Shore Residence Phase II has won a Special Mention for Excellent Architecture – Conceptional Architecture in the 2021 German Design Award! Our Director Ricky Wang attended the presentation ceremony in Shanghai on 4 June. Congratulations to the team!

As the only residential project in China receiving a German Design Award this year, Green Shore Residence Phase II (Click to visit award website) developed by Fok Ying Tung Group is a top-end residence sitting at the tip of Luoxi Island, embraced by Pearl River on three sides. By rotating the four towers, the architect opens a 270° panoramic river view for most units, while facing the city centre, observing the prosperity of Guangzhou. The transparent façade is light and soft. Spacious sky balconies bring the indoor life outside.  By setting up an intimate dialogue between life and water, the architect tries to redefine the local waterfront lifestyle. Judges described it as ‘modern, sophisticated’ with a ‘striking’ façade.

Organised by the authoritative German Design Council, the German Design Award sets the mark of good design across the world and celebrates the top runners in various design disciplines.

Besides the award presentation, Ricky was also panellist at the Iconic Conference, again organised by the German Design Council, joining renowned real estate leaders and architects to discuss ways to help China transition to a greener mode of development under the topic ‘Green & Beyond Green’. Themed around ‘Green low-carbon building and design innovation’, the event gathered representatives from noted design practices from Germany, Austria, Italy and China, as well as representatives of Chinese property developers.

Among the distinguished guests were German Design Council General Manager and Chief Representative Greater China Lei Wang, consul of German Consulate-General in Shanghai Thomas Triller, Austria Consulate General Shanghai Commercial Section Vice Consul (Commercial Affairs) Elisabeth Mindlberger, and fellow of National Academy of Sciences in Germany, Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhiqiang Wu.
