Summer is always a special time for us as we play host to young interns, who bring along fresh inspirations.
This year, we continue to be a partner of Project WeCan to offer internships to secondary school students under its Job Tasting Programme, but in an online format in response to the pandemic. Interviews were done on Zoom with our Associate Director Anika Poon, Senior Associate William So and Admin & HR colleague and successful applicants went on to do a three-day Virtual Internship Programme with our Hong Kong studio.
Through video presentations and online interactions during the Virtual Internship, Anika coached young interns in creating their own perspective drawings and interior layouts while our HR & Admin colleague help them build key skills for running an office. Students showed creativity and diligence in their work and they were invited to share their feelings and future aspirations at the end of the programme.
Nurturing young people is crucial for the growth and development of a healthy industry and we’ve always enjoyed the company of lively students! We hope they get a gist of what it’s like to work in a global architectural practice and find their future path.
Since 2014, LWK + PARTNERS has been supporting Project WeCan, a meaningful initiative that promotes a business-in-community cause through hands-on training and workshops to empower youths in Hong Kong with a better future.
