Kai Tak Development – Stage 4 Infrastructure at the Former Runway and South Apron wins HKIUD Urban Design Awards

Kai Tak Development – Stage 4 Infrastructure at the Former Runway and South Apron, Hong Kong, China, is named Special Citation for Plan / Concept (Local Projects) in the HKIUD Urban Design Awards! Our Director Paul Wong joined Ricky Lau, JP, Hong Kong SAR Government’s Director of Civil Engineering and Development, and other partners of the project to celebrate the rewarding moment.

As Landscape Architect, LWK + PARTNERS Landscape Team designed the project as a green, healthy and engaging civic waterfront encouraging the public to get close to the sea.

Inspired by Kai Tak River, the scheme celebrates movement and continuity through the concept of ‘Soaring over the glade, immersing in the flow of Kai Tak’. The public open space features a Kai Tak Basecamp, a Viewing Station and a meandering Greenway connecting different components.

HKIUD Urban Design Awards is organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design every two years to recognise outstanding urban design related projects and contributions in promoting excellence in the field.
