Gallium Valley Technology Co. Ltd.
At the heart of Hangzhou’s Cloud Valley, Gallium Valley Science Park is aimed to promote the development of e-commerce and the artificial-intelligence sector. The project is set to synergise with the new Xihu University nearby while enjoying scenic surroundings by the river. It will house laboratories, co-working and meeting spaces, sports facilities, exhibition venues, restaurants and retail outlets to make up an all-round programme for its future users.
The project design proposes a new office-park typology by emphasising shared spaces on multiple levels. A communal ‘sky-loop’ platform on Level 3 connects office spaces with amenities like eateries, roof gardens and other recreational facilities. For the taller blocks, major recesses have been introduced to the building envelopes facing the central courtyard, creating communal terraces on every floor to let in fresh air and sunlight into core spaces like lift lobbies and pantries. Internal roads and vehicle drop-offs are set to one side to allow large areas of pedestrianised zones to complete park environment.
Overall, the project seeks to blur the lines between purpose-built premises in a pleasant office-park environment, potentially becoming a signature type of workspace that fosters a works-life balance in the science-tech industry.
